Shares on Wall Street ended higher on Wednesday, as a selloff in technology-related stocks eased and a rotation into cyclical shares continued after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's comments calmed inflation worries. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said on Wednesday Johnson & Johnson's one-dose COVID-19 vaccine appeared safe and effective in trials, paving the way for its approval for emergency use as soon as this week. Johnson & Johnson rose 1.3% following the news.

Asian stocks rose on Thursday after U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell soothed nerves over rising U.S. bond yields and calmed inflation worries by reassuring markets for a second day that interest rates would be left unchanged for now. Powell said it could take more than three years to hit the inflation target, while clarifying that while some asset prices may go up, it wouldn't necessarily lead to inflation and would not warrant a policy response.
