The Dow and S&P indexesclosed higher overnight, as market participants braced for choppy trade surrounding the U.S. election. Democrat Joe Biden is ahead in national opinion polls, but races are tight in battleground states that could tip the election to President Donald Trump. The S&P 500 closed up 1.2%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq made less impressive gains, rising by 0.4%, making it the worst-performing major index of the day. All three indexes remain adrift of their 50-day moving average.
